Height Fog hides all sins.......

So I worked on the snow on the bricks and the terrain of the snow around the castle. I added some height fog and a bit of volume fog within the castle walls. Oh and I added some purple point lights in some of the mountain crevasses though I'm not sure how much they're helping.

Anyways here's my screenshots for the final critique tomorrow (or I suppose technically it's today) Enjoy my first attempt at both handpainted textures and UDK levels!

Progress, Progress, we are making progress....

Here's some in progress shots of my unreal scene and the texture files for the three ground textures I've worked on so far. I haven't touched the castle yet since last class because I've been focusing on getting the ground better. All of the ground texture have a diffuse, spec and normal map applied. However, most of them are pretty simple at this point and need some tweaking. I haven't done much in the material editor other than plug in the respective maps.

Feedback Appreciated

Castle Concept

So I built this model in class last week. I'm still probably gonna add some details to the back portion but it's pretty much done.

I think I'm gonna try to do a wintery scene with it.

So texture wise I'm going to need

1. Rock (mountains)
2. Castle Texture (if that counts)
3. Ice (for the moat)
4. Mud (for under the, hopefully transparent ice)
5. Dirt (for the ground)
6. Lighter dirt (for dirt path)
7. Snow
8. Grass (possibly)
9. Grass covered snow (Possibly)

Also the above concpet is very, very basic I'm just not good at drawing interesting moutains, especially not for quick thumbnails o.O but once I get into mudbox with a little height map knowledge I should have something that looks good.
