The metal, brick and wood would count all together for the observatory diffuse texture. I think this piece is a bit ambitious so let's start off with either only building the top part with the telescope (my preference) or only the bottom with the door, plus the trees for now. If you can finish that and all the ground textures first, then you can always build the rest of the building later.
What is your ground texture list? Grass, Dirt,... (that stone path?) and one more. Have you figured out exactly how you want to do this yet? Are we still sticking with the pixel look for everything? I think we need to make ground textures for the mountains and build them out of terrain because I think it is too much modeling especially because we are experimenting and we need room for error and tweaking.
