As you guys know, my computer really hates working in 3D programs while recording so I have tried to make the demo numerous times with little success. I finally found a recording program that keeps my quality without blue screening, although you'll see mudbox crash a couple of times in the video and I need to now compress it before uploading. To start off, I got one jittery video up (although the audio is stable) on Vimeo last night so you can at least get into Mudbox and fimilarize yourself with the tools until I get the better, compressed video up. The reason I prefer you to watch my video rather than other tutorial videos is I am trying to compress many ideas into the one tutorial so that you don't need to search in many places. Also, in the next 2 demos that I will be posting there is a very specific workflow that I would like you to follow and it will be imperative that you watch the demos I made. Now that I have a bit of a better recording program hopefully everything will be up and running by tonight because I want your heightmaps and stamps done and in Mudbox by Tuesday. We'll have class time on Tuesday to review and tweak, but you need something in there that represents your scene.
Here is the Vimeo video and I will post the YouTube ones once the compression is done. Feel free to further explore Mudbox after watching or at least listening to this.
Post any questions up on the blog or feel free to email me.

Just a note for people such as myself who have just now had to download Mudbox from the Autodesk educational site: they claim to be out of serial numbers, whatever that means, and that when I first tried to get it running I got some sort of access denied error, twice. But third time was the charm. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of that, but thanks for letting us know John.
