Unwrapped and mirrored! (Except for the nose gear.) Thinking of doing an ambient occlusion pass but I'll need to have another look at my UVs to make sure that works correctly.
Minor note: you see that little notch about halfway along the wing? You better like that detail because I'm pretty sure it took me as much time to get the UVs passable on that as it did to get the rest of the entire wing.
This is looking pretty good John. That little notch looks like the model might not be welded together. Did you select all verts and weld? Is the unwrap 1 piece? Try pelt mapping and relaxing the top half as one piece and the bottom as a second piece that way your seam makes more sense. Also, don't forget a leg for that front wheel and to start texturing!
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, the little notch is a detail that actually appears on the wing of my reference airplane, however it's true that perhaps modeling it out has proved more trouble than benefit. Due to the mirroring coming after the unwrap, the fuselage UV seam is indeed along the top, which is sort of a strange place for it I guess. I'll look at fixing that, although I've never done a pelt map before so some trial and error may be involved.
